The HDL stands for high density lipoprotein and each dose of HDL cholesterol in your bloodstream is a microscopic blob that consists of a lipoprotein rim surrounding a center of fatty deposit. The HDL cholesterol particle is generally much denser compared to other forms of cholesterol, which is why it is called “high density”.
